Information on 'Pyrography'. Pyrography is a term used to describe the burnishing on wood; usually every space was shaded, textured, or outlined by burning and sometimes enhanced with color. It was very popular in the Victorian era until about 1920. The Flemish Art Company of N.Y. was one of the first suppliers of burnishing tools for homemakers and factories. The name 'Flemish Art' became a generic term for 'pyrography', (burnt wood and etching). Homemakers often burnished sewing, hanky and collar boxes for personal use and for gifts.

Brass hinges; good antique condition; just small, (1.25 inch), tight split on top of the lid, near the back left corner; really not noticeable or distracting if up on a shelf; if staring at it in front of your nose well it still is not much of a flaw for an antique box. This box features grape vines and leaves. Once used to store gloves, ties, collars. It is 11.75 long x 4.25 wide x a bit over 2.5 tall. These boxes make great furniture accessory pieces as well!

Antique Hand Painted Shoe Pencil Holder Antique hand painted combination shoe mold and pencil holder. You might be wondering what this item is doing in the furniture/accessories category; but this vintage wooden shoe mold has been converted to a pen/pencil holder and is painted on the toe area, featuring some books, plants, papers and an inkwell, and it reads: NOTES. A very ecclectic pencil/pen holder for the lady/gent who has everything! Perfect accessory item in a country or primitive style home!

Huge Italian Marquetry Music Box Awesome Italian inlay wood musicical jewelry box. Very large size. It has an 'S' on the lever which stands for 'Sorrento'. It also has a paper label: Made in Italy. It plays a tune when you turn level and open lid. This grand box is 13.75 long x 4.25 tall x 10 wide. Top of lid features a picture of a guitar. The tune is unfamiliar to me. A few scratches on the top, but these are really not noticeable unless moving it around under a light. The overall condition is good. This is the largest one I have ever seen; it must have been made for someone very special. 9/09esacs-r

Vintage Folk Art Cigarette Dispenser Vintage folk art wood cigarette dispenser. Likely antique or close to it. Awesome item. Good overall vintage condition and works. You press the lever and the bird picks up the cigarette from the box. The box is quite detailed, and just has one white worn spot on it, (see pic #4). The paint on the duck is quite striated, indicating a lot of age; one spot of white paint missing on the duck. This item is 6.75 long x 3.25 tall x 3.75 wide. It is very similar to the other cig dispenser I have for sale except that one is metal, and this one is wood and is much older. A great item for an office, library, tobacianna or folk art collection!

Italian Folk Art Pipe Italian folk art pipe. Lovely wood pipe featuring two male heads. The top stem of the pipe is detachable, as well as the big head, (to clean it). This pipe has an incised ITALY mark on the stem, and is in very good condition. It does not appear to be very old, but it is quite well-made. The only flaw it has is that one of the white beaded eyes on the little head at the bottom is missing. Easy to fix if you're so inclined. It is about 11 inches in length. A very unique accessory item or gift for the man who likes to use a pipe, or just to display on the desk or table near his favorite chair!
