Click for more detail...

doulton10819

Antique Doulton Biscuit Jar Sensational antique Doulton & Co. earthenware biscuit jar. c: 1858-1891. It appears to be hand painted and is in 'very good antique' condition. The bottom has a tiny incised mark: 'Doulton', (predecesser of Royal Doulton), and a red underglaze mark: 'A2171', and initials: 'WJ', (artist's initials I presume). Very difficult to get a picture of the marks due to the color of jar and being that the lettering is very tiny and worn; you need a good magnifier. The metal is silverplate, very sturdy, but unmarked; just the interior underside of lid is pitted, see pic#8. The silverplate has become darker since I took the pics; tarnish, as expected, but I leave the polishing up to you. This is a good sized jar, standing 9 inches tall up to top of handle; 7 tall to finial; or 6 tall if measuring up to lid rim. Some faint crazing on body and bottom of jar, really not noticeable unless you are under a strong light; and there is a small discolored spot of spidering on the interior bottom as expected for its age and use. One side of the jar has a crouching hunting dog amongst the flowers, and the other side has a quail. This is an amazing piece of earthenware. I have not come across anything comparable to this jar. shau-11-07

Circa: 1800's

Enameled Hand Painted Teacup Magnificent vintage hand painted teacup and saucer with raised enameling. It features deep pink dahlias and a lot of gold! Not marked but who cares! It's gorgeous! Saucer is almost 5.5 wide; cup is 3.5 wide x 2.25 tall. I think it looks like a Nippon piece, but since it is not marked I cannot verify that. The beading and enameling also looks similar to a Dresden cup in S. Harran's book III, on pg. 35. Nippon that was not made for export is often not marked.

Antique English Earthenware Sugar Jar Antique English earthenware sugar or condiment jar. c:1891+. Very feminine covered jar; it does have some condition flaws, but displays nicely on either side. Flaws: Has crazing; some discoloration; a teensy fleaspeck on exterior upper rim; and one surface chip with 1/8 hairline on interior of upper rim. This jar has brown backstamp S. F. & Co., England, crown symbol, then E (?), L. M. and +89 in red. Still a very charming antique! Being sold as a collectible display item; add it to your sugar jar collection! est1/07

Royal Chelsea Bone China Teacup Vintage Royal Chelsea fine bone china teacup. c: 1943-51 is the time frame the backstamp dates to. The company name is New Chelsea Porcelain Co., Ltd., which started in business in 1912. This beautiful cup features morning glories? and heavy gold trim. The rims are scalloped. The cup is 4.25 wide x 2.25 tall; saucer is 6 inches wide. The cup has one discolored speck on the interior which does not come off and appears to be under the glaze. This is a very striking cup for your collection or to give as a gift! I have seen some for sale on-line, but they do not have the heavy gold trim like this one does. 7/15

teacup10910

Tuscan Teacup Trio Vintage Very pretty feminine vintage Tuscan bone china teacup set. c:1947. Green backstamp, Made in England. Pat. No. C7200; 'Bouquet'. Includes the teacup, saucer and dessert plate. No chips, cracks or crazing. The cup is almost 4 inches wide x 2.25 tall; the saucer is 5.5 wide and the desert plate is 7 inches wide. There is some wear off the gold rims as expected for a 69 year old teacup; see photo 8 for magnified image. And, there is a teensy depression in the bottom cup rim, but since you would not be displaying it upside down, you'd never see this so I do not consider it a flaw that would affect price; see photo closeup where the 'x' is next to the depression. 1/10esa#2815
