Robinson Ransbottom, aka RRP Roseville Pottery Co., of Roseville, Ohio. RRP started in business before 1900, and has just recently gone out of business. They were one of American's great old pottery companies that made stoneware, spongeware, art pottery, vases, planters, birdbath inserts, dinnerware, cookie jars, etc. All RRP is collectible, especially now that they have closed. Their pottery is heavy, well-made, attractive, durable, affordable, and quite functional. Check my Kitchen Collectibles categories for more great RRP items!

RRP Roseville as it is commonly known, is not the same as the Roseville Pottery Co.; they were two separate companies, both formerly doing business in Roseville, Ohio, and both companies are now out of business.

Lay people tend to lump them together, but they are not the same. Roseville Pottery tended to produce more decorative and expensive Art Pottery, while RRP Roseville tended to produce more utilitarian items, although, they also produced some Art Pottery.

Thick, heavy, well-made with 3 stilt marks on bottom. Age est: 1920's-40's. If you want to order this item e-mail me your zip code first for a more accurate ship quote since the weight I put on here is just a guess at this point. 4/10djcs

chamberpot70627

Antique Stoneware Chamber Pot Antique stoneware open chamber pot. This is either early Bauer Pottery or early Ransbottom. The identical potty appears in both books. It is listed on a catalog page in the Ransbottom book, c:1915. And, shown on pg. 184 of the 1998 Bauer book by J. Chipman. Thick, heavy-duty, durable chamber pot. This an adult size thunder mug; has crazing, and one chip off bottom dry rim which doesn't really show when pot is upright. It was called an 'open chamber' pot; both RRP and Bauer came with and without lids. It is 9.5 wide one way; from handle to other end it is 10.25 wide; bottom rim is 5.25 wide, and it is 6 inches tall. Because this one is not marked, I am included to believe it is Bauer, since Ransbottom was pretty good about marking items with some type of mark. A great item to use on an antique washstand; as a planter, or in a shabby chic room! I've included some photos of my newly acquired antique child outhouse that is in my garden! Very cool!

Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Pedestal Blended glaze vintage Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Pedestal. RRP is no longer in business. No chips or cracks, but does have some spots on rim where brown glaze did not adhere to the clay, however, it does have glaze over these spots. This is called the 'flowers' pattern, and it was made from an old Weller mold; RRP bought the Weller molds when Weller closed in the 1940's. It is shown in the RRP book. This pedestal stands 13.5 tall x 8.5 wide across bottom and 6 wide at top. These pedestals also make great tables, just set a round piece of glass on the top instead of a jardinaire! Any of the green/brown blended pottery will look good on this pedestal. USA destinations only. dd-au-1/4-CC-V

Click for more detail...

rrpstoneware0616

RRP Dragonfly Stoneware Pots Two vintage Ransbottom stoneware jardinaires for one price is only $20/each! These jards feature the dragonfly pattern. They are heavy duty stoneware; one has incised mark: R.R.P. Co., Roseville, Ohio, No. 211. The other one is not marked and has an older looking bottom; it might be a Weller since RRP took over Weller in the 1940's and copied some of their designs. These are 7.25 tall x 7.5 wide. Both have gouges in the clay; typical on theses planters. The one that is unmarked has a pea size gouge or chip in the top rim; see magnified photo. It really looks more like a large bubble pop or gouge than a chip to me. These are very usable; indoors or out. I have some of my own that I use to grow Rosemary on the deck in the summertime. You can put the plant in a plastic pot with a saucer and stick in these pots. Or, you can put a nice orchid in them; faux or live. They are great American made pottery that will last a long, long time! You can also spray paint these any color you want. I sprayed some of my old dingy white pots with Rustoleum's 'satin white' paint to go with some of my more contemporary furnishings. 6/16

rrp10422

RRP Roseville Pottery Floor Vase Vintage Ransbottom floor vase. c:1938-1980's. I'd say this one was likely made in the 40-60's. Must be picked up in MI; too large to ship. This is a very large, heavy two handled, brown drip floor vase; called 'Astroglow' in the book. It is very similar in color and measurements to the one handled floor vase I also have for sale by RRP, see photo #3. I have had the two vases flanking my fireplace for a long time, but I am redoing the room so I have to part with these. They look great near a fireplace, or flanking large oak, walnut, or mahogany furniture, or in a foyer, or on a staircase. Magnificent RRP Roseville pottery. This one is a bit over 18 inches tall and is marked USA on the bottom. These sell for over $900 at antique shops and shows here in MI; why pay more? Hardly any age or wear. jsest

The last one is a 1 QT butter/cheese crock with black RRP inkstamp signed: Diane Malonznik. It is 4.5 tall x 6.75 wide. The lid finial is also a birdhouse. Robinson Ransbottom Kitty Bowls Robinson Ransbottom kitty bowls. Three bowls in stock; the price is for one bowl. Heavy-duty stoneware; won't tip over. For indoors or out. One of the bowls has a teensy fleabite off bottom rim on one of them; it doesn't affect stance; and one has a small clay irregularity on it, not a chip or crack. These kitty bowls are much harder to find than the doggie bowls. RRP went out of biz in 2005 so these will get harder to find.

Ransbottom Vintage Floor Vase Large vintage Ransbottom floor vase aka oil jar. Raised apple design that is 15.5 inches tall! It looks small in the photos because I had to stand way back to get it all in. This vase is not marked, but is shown in the Ransbottom book; it looks like the mark got absorbed into the glaze, see photo. Old, aged bottom dry rim. It is a yellow ware color so if you collect yellow ware, this will fit right in even though it is not technically 'yellow ware'. It has very faint all over crazing that is more noticeable near the bottom rim. The rim has couple of old gouges in it. The interior had some dirt in it, most of it has been removed. It is a great vintage piece of American pottery! Email me for an accurate ship quote; if you live in the MI ship zone, shipping will be a lot less than if you live in CA, TX, etc. 2/18acest

rrpcrock80609

Ransbottom Antique Pickle Crock Awesome antique Robinson Ransbottom stoneware crock. Being sold as a collectible item, not for food use since I did not manufacture it and I don't know if it has anything harmful in it. It has some age flaws, but still looks and displays good! The flaws are considered insignificant since they do not affect stance or display value; if they were major chips or cracks, it would not even be for sale. Flaws: it has some pits in glaze, (common); one hole in the glaze in the bottom rim, (doesn't go through to interior & doesn't show); crazing on interior bottom; a 1.5 inch crackle area on front near bottom pic #7; a fleabite on finial; and some small chippies on underside of lid. Great red painted wood handles. Made in the 1920's. Has #2 Crown logo. Measures 12 inches up to rim or 13 up to finial x 7.5 wide. A hard to find item! A smaller size one like this would have been for preserves; this may have been for pickles. USA destinations only. E-mail me your zip code prior to ordering for a more accurate ship quote if you want to. 9/8/09est$2621

Ransbottom Matte White Jardinieres Two matte white Ransbottom jardinieres with raised flower design. The price is for one, if you want both, hit quantity 2. No chips or cracks; both have the incised marks on bottom, although on one it is hard to find it. They do have some pin pops, tin black dots, very minor and typical of this old pottery. These are heavy duty, well made and will last another lifetime. They are almost 7 tall x 8 wide; perfect for real or faux plants; nice with poinsetta or Christmas cactus at the holidays; orchids for everyday! Why buy expensive junk from garden centers or high end stores when you can upcycle vintage American pottery made to last! I like to spray paint these older white jards a 'satin white' to fit in my décor and you can too! 10/11frcs

Ransbottom White Jardiniere Matte white vintage RRP jardiniere. c:1939. Good sized jard. No chips or cracks; some glaze pops and some fissures and gouges in the clay; these flaws are common on this old pottery. These can be spray painted satin white by Rustoleum for a facelift which is what I do with my vintage pottery that I use in my home. Perfect for a large fern, poinsetta, Christmas cactus, orchid. It is 6.75 tall x 8 wide. Great American made pottery that will last another lifetime. Don't waste your money on the junk sold in stores nowdays. It has a very faint USA mark on bottom; the RRP mark is there but it is way under the glaze and hard to make out. This jard is shown in the RRP book. 10/11estcs

rrppedestal1012

Vintage Ransbottom Pottery Pedestal Vintage Robinson Ransbottom Pottery pedestal. Flowers pattern. Displays fine, is sturdy and usable, but it has some flaws which is why the price is reduced. See pics #4-5. It has a chip on the top interior rim which doesn't show when a jardinaire is on the top. It has 2 firing lines on bottom interior; (these are caused from firing pottery when the clay shrinks and separates). They do not show from exterior and this item is quite stable. The jard on the top is for sale separately. Any of the McCoy or RRP jards with the brown/green coloring will go atop this pedestal if you have a nice large plant in them. A faux fern is shown. This pedestal is 13.75 tall x 8.5 wide at bottom. 10/12s#

Vintage Ransbottom Butter Cheese Crock Vintage Ransbottom hand painted blue banded stoneware crock with lid. Lid has a porcelain finial. This size crock would be used for butter or cheese. Great looking, artist signed crock. It is an RRP Roseville crock but is missing the mark. I know it is Ransbottom because the artist's name on it is the same as some of the other RRP items I have sold. It is signed, 'S. Class'. No chips or cracks, but has some blue color and discoloration on the interior and some age/wear. It stands 4 tall x 6 wide; w/lid on it is 6.5 tall. Great for indoors or out; it won't tip over. rrpvase1014

Ransbottom Stoneware Dragonfly Vase Vintage Robinson Ransbottom stoneware vase or planter. Cool item; the pattern looks like a dragonfly. Incised mark on bottom: RRP Co., Roseville Ohio, No. 211. It is 7.25 tall x 7.25 wide. No chips or cracks; some gouges on bottom dry area and some fissures and gouges in the stoneware as is common on these pieces. This type of item is great for real or faux herb plants. I have a couple that I use on my deck in the summer for growing Rosemary plants. It is vintage but can work in a contemporary or modern décor; especially if you spray paint it 'satin white'. These are old and not bright white, so I spray them to match my décor since I do use my pottery all over my house as well as outdoors! These are well made and much longer lasting than buying pricey junk pottery from high end stores. 10/14
