Zanesville Art Pottery Overflow Vase Very large hand thrown Zanesville Stoneware Co. art pottery overflow vase. It is 15.5 tall. Pick up in MI; no shipping; too large. Age est: 1918-30's. Black overflow glaze. Shape no #108, (incised number on bottom). The same shape number is shown on pg. 121 of J. Rans book, (different glaze); ZSC did a variety of overflow glaze colors. The overflow glazes were made at the end of WWI which was 1918. No chips or cracks; one tiny circular glaze skip. Heavy duty; well-made American pottery. Very nice old piece; the unglazed bottom is quite aged and smooth. I believe it is a hand turned piece; there are horizontal ridges on the exterior and interior of vase and no mold lines, but I could be mistaken. Rare find. ZSC was known for their large garden ware which hotels, restaurants, offices started using indoors as well. 4/11s#

vintagepitcher8013

Art Pottery Vintage Pitcher Vintage art pottery pitcher. This looks like something Brush McCoy might have made around the 1920's but it wasn't found in my books. Could be another maker like Monmouth, Weller, Burley Winter, etc. It is heavy duty and has an old worn bottom dry rim. Incised number: #1183, (I think). It is 6 inches tall; no chips or cracks. Along bottom rim line there are spots where the glaze did not drip down enough to cover so there is some exposed clay. The pattern on it looks like grape clusters and leaves. Nice old pitcher that you can use as a vase! 8/13scsr

Click for more detail...

mattevase80409

Early Arts & Crafts Matte Vase Early hand thrown blended matte glaze vase. Possibly Rookwood, Arequipa, Wheatley, Pewabic; the style/pattern looks similar to several vases shown in the Arts & Crafts book. Nice size vase. It is hand thrown and quite hefty and is almost 8 inches tall. Incised mark: M. T. #230. It has some crazing and one small chip near top rim which does show on one side. A professional repair might be worth it since this was most likely made by an important company/artist around the 1900's. There was an artist with these initials that worked for Weller, but I doubt this is a Weller. Pottery artists moved around frequently. Price reflects the flaw. Perfect for your Arts & Crafts room! In a good economy this item would be priced at $1200. 8/09intest#

Signed Art Pottery Vase Vintage Signed vintage art pottery vase. The mark looks like an incised M R, but not sure; it could be a studio logo. It is an oldie; you can see the all over crazing if you look at the glaze under a light and bottom dry rim is quite worn and smooth. No chips or cracks. It is 4.5 tall. The color is purple with drip glaze. It looks burgandy in the picture, but it is purple/lavendar. 7/11s#

rollingpin4013

Harker Cameoware Vintage Rolling Pin Vintage Harker Pottery Co. rolling pin. 'Cameoware' is the pattern name. c:1930's-40's. Being sold as a collectible display item and not for food use since I did not make it and I don't know what it was made with so it might not be 'food safe'. Harker Pottery was the oldest pottery company in the USA; it was in business from the 1840's to 1970's. This is a rare item. This pin is not marked with a maker's mark;(most pins are not marked), but I recently came across a sugar jar with the same color and pattern marked 'Harker Cameoware' which is a match to this pin. It has all over faint crazing indicating some age; no chips or cracks. It is 15 inches long. The end cork is broken off. If just using for display it is fine; if you want to add hot or cold water inside, you will need to get the cork off and replace it. A great addition to your pin collection! 4/13smc

Retro Red Cannister Set Retro red kitchen cannister set. Neat old set, the finials on the lids appear to be bakelite, but not absolutely sure. This set is showing its age which likely dates from the 1920's-40's. Bottoms are marked: National Can Corp. New York. There is some wear, e.g., paint loss, scratches, rust, and some minor dents. Still makes a great display item in a retro red kitchen. The breadbox and apron shown in one of the pics are being sold separately. A similar, but not identical set is shown on the set of the hit series: 'Mrs. Maisel'.

Vintage Cornocopia Vase Pair Vintage cornocopia vase pair. 2 vases, one price! Incised mark #159. Heavy-duty semi-gloss rose colored vases. One has remnant of an old paper label on bottom, likely vintage Frankoma vases, but could possibly be another American pottery company like Abingdon. They have a dry bottom rim exposing tan clay, and just a small amount of crazing on the bottom. One has a tiny fleabite near bottom rim; a very minor, insignificant flaw. They stand 7.75 tall x aboout 8 wide. The color is what I would call a desert rose, (but is a bit peachier than a true rose, but not true peach either). A nice vintage pair for each nightstand!

artpotteryvase3013

Arts & Crafts Overflow Vase Vintage arts & crafts art pottery overflow vase. I found the same shaped vase in my Camark book; it is shown in the yellow overflow glaze on pg. 58 of D. Gifford's book II. And, the coloring is the same as the vases shown on pg. 53. This vase is unmarked, but it is an oldie and I am fairly confident now that it is indeed an early Camark art pottery vase since the underlying clay on the bottom is white and it has the same shape. This is a super nice matte blended glaze. Wavy design. No mold lines so it was likely hand made. It has an old gouge on bottom rim which doesn't show or affect stance. One large glaze circular pop on interior bottom which also doesn't show. And a couple of teensy tiny fleaspecks along bottom rim which are hard to even find unless looking for them. I consider these flaws very minor and I just mention them so you know it is not perfect, but is close if you love early art pottery! As you can see from the pics, you really cannot even see the fleaspecks at the bottom unless the vase is right up under your nose. It is 5 inches tall. Mauve, teal coloring. Gorgeous old pottery. 3/13labcs

Swingle's book on pg. 29. No chips or cracks and stands 7 inches tall. That line near top rim is not a crack; just a depression/gouge in the clay; other side is fine. And, it must have been a factory mold problem because I have come across this same vase with same flaw in it. It's a beauty despite that one flaw on one side! zanesvilleart1014

Zanesville Hand Thrown Ware Antique Zanesville Stoneware hand thrown pottery pitcher. Deep burgundy which I believe the book would call 'mahogany' as opposed to the lighter matte rose. And, because this is a hand thrown item, it indicates it was made early, was higher grade, and these pieces were usually special ordered. The book mentions the 'mahogany' finish on pg. 28 of J. Rans book and on pg. 152 and 157 Catalog #4. This pitcher/vase is shown on pg. 201. It has the yellow clay glazed bottom with incised mark: D 11 which corresponds to the book mark. It stands 8.25 tall. It has a couple tiny spots of clay waste; and tiny rough spot on the top rim edge, and couple of pinpops; see all photos. Overall condition is very nice. A great piece of antique American made pottery for your arts & crafts collection! Final markdown. 10/14
