This category contains vintage pottery that was made in the USA; it is pottery with a 'USA' mark on the bottom, but the manufacturer is unknown. 'USA' is not a company name, not a brand name, not a manufacturer! Many early American pottery companies started marking their pottery with the USA mark around WW1 in order to distinguish it from foreign imports. Prior to WW1, most American pottery was unmarked. From the late 1940's and 50's most American pottery companies were using their company logos, e.g. McCoy Pottery, USA, RRP Roseville, USA, etc. However, some companies seldom used any marks at all on the premise that since foreign pottery had to be marked, their items need not be marked, e.g. Zanesville Stoneware Co.

The miscellaneous pottery is pottery that does not bear a USA mark, and has not yet been identified.

Vintage Statuary Head Vintage statuary head. At first look you might think this is terra cotta clay, but it is much heavier than ordinary terra cotta clay. When I tap my fingernail on it, it does not sound like terra cotta either, it sounds like statuary. It is quite hefty and stands 10.5 tall x 6.5 wide. One fleabite near bottom eyelid and 2 pinpops near backside; otherwise good condition, see pics. Not marked with any maker's marks; hollow inside. Just a really interesting piece of statuary and it looks fairly old. Roman goddess Vesta? 10/09esa#

Art Pottery Antique Milkweed Vase Antique matte green art pottery vase. This vase is a deeper, darker green than the pictures are showing it. It has embossed milkweed or poppy pod and stems. Faint incised number #205 on bottom. Four tiny feet and 3 stilt marks. It has some very minor flaws: a small depression in the clay on rim edge, (no change in glaze or texture); one teensy rim nick; and a tiny dot on a bottom foot that is either a fleabite or a glaze pop. The interior is quite worn and has a dark spot on the interior bottom, and there are some gray lines which is common on antique matte pottery. None of the minor flaws amount to much, I just mention them so you are aware. I believe this is an early Roseville Pottery item circa 1915-1920, but could possibly be another American company. It is 6.5 wide x 3.25 tall. One observer related it might be early Brush McCoy art pottery. It would make a fine addition your Arts & Crafts style room! 3/08ro#

Vintage Drip Glaze Vase & Flower Frog Large vintage USA drip vase with similar style art pottery flower frog. The drip vase has green, brown, tan colors and incised 'USA' mark on bottom. Might be Brush McCoy or Ransbottom. It is 3 tall x 10 wide. The frog is signed on bottom but I cannot make out what it says. The frog is a very nice old piece; looks like studio pottery. Has crazing on interior. The clay appears to be redware, (not terra cotta). It is 3 inches tall x 3.5 wide and is for sale separately if you don't want this drip vase. 3/11s#+

Old Kentucky Hand Turned Redware Vase Super nice vintage hand turned redware pottery vase. Bottom has circular stamp: Hand-Turned Old Kentucky Pottery. Well worn smooth aged bottom rim indicating this is a very old vase. Age est: 1920's. It stands 9.75 tall. It has a piece of clay waste on the interior, and one pinpop on the exterior. No chips or cracks. It has a lighter blend of blue in it too but it was hard to get a good photo of this blended glaze because it is so subtle. Not sure if Cornelison Bybee made it or another Ky. company. Very niece piece of American art pottery. 10/11brcs;adjpr9/22

Large Vintage Aqua Large Vase Large vintage art pottery aqua vase. Very nice old vase; not sure which company made it. My guess is either Red Wing, a California company or Camark. It looks kind of small on the photos because I had to take the photo further away to get it to fit in. In one of the photos it is next to a good sized McCoy planter and it is much larger. The underlying clay is white and it has 3 stilt marks on the bottom. It is quite large standing 9 inches tall x 10.25 wide. It has some areas where the aqua glaze is thin with the white clay peeking through. On the bottom rid edge there is a tiny spot where the glaze is flaked off or that was a bubble pop. Overall condition is very good vintage. It's a very cool old vase; if I come across it in one of my books I will revise the description. 10/14

I have a vase in this exact shade of yellow that turned out to be Monmouth. This item is 4.75 tall x 6.5 long. It is a very rich yellow color; the lst photos is the color. 10/19

Ball Pitcher Jug Vintage USA Vintage USA ball pitcher jug. This item is being sold as a collectible display item, since it might not be safe for food use due to its age. Great AQUA color, good looking ball pitcher/ice jug! It has incised 'USA' mark on the bottom. Likely a McCoy, Shawnee, or other vintage American pottery company. It actually looks just like the McCoy pitcher shown on pg. 123 of 1980 book by Bob Huxford. A nice piece for a pitcher or pottery collection This was likely made in the 1930's.

Yellow Ware Crock Glazed yellow ware crock. c.late 19th, early 20th. Awesome piece of yellow ware with the Rockingham and/or Bennington Pottery type glaze; nice details. No chips or cracks, but does have all over faint crazing, and some glaze pops. It has 3 stilt/kiln marks on bottom, and a well-worn, smooth dry bottom rim. It is quite rich looking and detailed, and stands 5 tall x 6.25 wide. The color is actually a deeper, richer, darker brown with yellow showing, see pic #7. A rockingham mug with a similar pattern is shown on pg. 117 of the 1980 book titled: American Antiques by W. Ketchum. The book prices on this type of yellow ware are much higher.

Vintage USA Parmesan Cheese Shaker Vintage USA parmesan cheese shaker. This cute pottery shaker is in the form of a mouse head on a chunk of cheese with a handle. The bottom has incised USA mark with another mark or number below that which I cannot make out. There is a Doranne of California cookie jar that looks very similar from the 50's so maybe this item was made to match that. This also has a yellow stopper on the bottom. It is 6 inches tall x 5.5 long. Very cute and usable too! 6/14

Cronin Vintage Ball Pitcher Vintage Cronin China Blue Tulip ball pitcher. c:1950's. Incised USA mark on bottom and was made by the Cronin China Co. and Cameron Clay Products of W. Va. This pitcher is being sold as a collectible item, not for food use since I did not manufacture it and I don't know if it has anything harmful in it There is an entire dinnerware line of this too. The pattern also matches the DRU Holland Enameled cast iron cookware from the 1950's. No chips or cracks; a couple of pin head size glaze pops. It is 8 tall; has some crazing on upper portion of handle; and interior. I also have the matching teapot for sale separately. Pic #7-8 shows the matching Dru Holland cast iron cookware.

Frogs Three frogs. These were used to hold brillo pads back in the 60's-70's; not sure if they still make them today. The yellow one is signed: Ka, likely a hobby ceramacist. the yellow one has some smudgy marks on it but those are within the glaze. I use similar frogs out in my garden in the summertime around the Hostas, (you can put beer in them and you know what happens). My grandkids love to find the frogs. You get all 3 for one price! 12/22vs

Vintage USA Birdcage Ornament Very cool old chalkware parakeet birdcage ornament. Has incised USA mark on it. Some missing cold paint, but still a very neat and hard to find item. These were once used to clip onto to the top of a birdcages or clip onto the swing. The tail on this apparently broke off at some time and was glued back on. This one is likely very rare since it is 'chalkware' and Made in USA; most were ceramic, Made in Japan. 8/12jtestcs

Pillow Vase Vintage Planter Vintage USA pillow planter vase. Likely a 1940's Floraline McCoy. Nice, deep, dark, matte green with incised USA mark on bottom. No chips or cracks. It is 4.25 tall x 6 long x 3.5 deep. McCoy book by Hanson, page 281, Vol. 3, shows identical planter, called a small pillow vase in the olive green, so this may have been made earlier. esa-cs-9/07

Vintage Triple Planter Vase Vintage triple planter vase. Not sure which company made it; could be Ransbottom, American Bisque, Cameron Clay Products, etc. It is 8 inches long x 2.5 tall. There is a vintage Japan triple planter vase but those are very lightweight ceramic, not pottery. Good condition; no chips or cracks. White dry clay bottom rim. You can purchase this one by itself or in the group, see photo 5. I found the 3 planters at different times during the past 7 years at various estates. They are very attractive, solid planters, perfect for cactus, sedum, etc. on the windowsill! 12/14

Vintage Turquoise Vase Vintage turquoise vase. Purchased from a nice estate sale. Attractive vase. The bottom edge of the rim is very smooth indicating some age to it but it is not marked and I do not know its true age or maker. It stands 3.5 tall x 4.5 wide. No chips or cracks. It resembles vintage CA studio pottery; no mold lines and it has ridges so it was likely made on a pottery wheel vs. a factory mold. 3/13est

Textured Pottery Vintage Vases Two vintage textured pottery vases for one price. The tall one is marked: C 710 A and a symbol. I have another vase marked similarly and also has California Originals with the C number mark so I assume this is a CA Originals vase. This style of pottery dates to the 1950's. It is 6.75 tall and has no chips or cracks; pretty green interior. The other one has a yellow interior and has a USA mark. I think it might be Brush McCoy. An identical vase is shown in the Brush-McCoy Pottery 1992 book by M. Sanford, pg. 100, c.1958, same size vase, same exterior but with a different interior color; but I am sure they came in different colors. The BM book calls this 'splattered', square jardinaire. It is 4.25 tall x 5.5 long x 3.5 wide; no chips or cracks. Neat vintage pottery to use or just display! 4/16
