Vintage cast aluminum Boston Terrior dog figurine. On the backside he has raised lettering: GALE. I believe this was an advertising item from Gale Electric Co. An identical dog, albeit, in a larger size in cast iron and painted, is shown in the book on vintage doorstops by J. Bertoia, pg. 73. This dog is 5 tall x 5 inches long. A very unique item for your collection! Age estimate: 1920's

Antique Jennings Bros. Miniature Bulldog
Antique Jennings Brothers miniature bulldog. Age est: late 1800's-1920's. The little white specks in the picture are sun glare. He is much better looking that the pictures are showing; deeper, richer copper coloring. This dog is not iron; the metal is likely copper but could be spelter; however, he is quite heavy for his size, (there is a bit of green from exterior copper oxidation on the dog's face). Jennings Bros. were famous for their high quality crafting and rich patination on metalworks; Bridgeport, Conneticut 1891-1950's. Hollow cast metal but no seam or mold lines show. Some wear to the copper finish on hind legs, no change in texture, just some darkened areas, see pictures. I could not locate another item like this by JB anywhere so it could be quite rare. It is 3.25 tall x 5.25 long. The raised JB mark is on the dog's scrotum, (that is how I know he is a male dog :) A wonderful unique piece! flcs11/08

Robia Ware Antique Springer Spaniel
Antique Robia Ware chalkware Springer Spaniel. Glass eyes; very heavy, almost feels like cement, (maybe plaster mixed with cement; it is not the lighter weight, newer chalkware.) I came across an identical dog at an antique store; the dog had an old foil label on it with the manufacture info. The difference was that the dog at the shop was a bit lighter in weight and the eyes were painted, not glass. So, my dog is much older. The company is called: Roman Art Co., Inc. St. Louis MO., Robia Ware, c: 1907. That company was famous for their animal and religious items. They went out of biz in 1974. My dog is missing the foil label and has some paint loss, especially where the old label or price tag must have been near its tail. It has some age/wear, but he still displays good. Almost 8 tall x 6 long. As is, as found. I have another one that matches this dog except it is a bit smaller in size, (male & female?); and it also has the glass eyes and is heavy. Age estimate: 1920's or earlier. If you want both dogs, let me know and I'll adjust the weight and price. They'd be attractive on each end of a breakfront, fireplace or nightstands. 8/09csgs

Rare Marion Bronze Clad Roosters
Outstanding vintage bronze clad roosters. Signed: MB, for Marion Bronze. Rare items; I have never come across these roosters anywhere else. They are not as bright as the picture is showing them; the camera is illuminating the metal; they actually have a nice patina on them. This company started producing metalware in the 1920's, having taken over Pompeiian Bronze Co. I believe, and continued until 1971. These roosters have cold painting on the crops and feet. They are very well made, quite detailed and heavy. One of the felt pieces came off the bottom and that rooster wobbles just a bit due to the irregularity of the metal scar on the bottom. They are 8.5 tall x 7 wide. Technically, I believe these are 'figurines' not 'bookends', but they can work as bookends due to their weight. Bronze-cladding is a very difficult metal process that is no longer used. They are absolutely gorgeous! Age estimate: 1950's. There is a pair of MB bookends, not roosters, on another site listed for $1275 at this time. Why not get something unique for your partner this holiday? 12/10antcs

Poodle Figurines Vintage Trio
Three vintage poodle figurines. First is the black poodle with foil label: Fine Quality 'A' Japan; the A might stand for Ardalt. This poodle is 6.5 long x 4 tall. Very detailed tail, ears, paws, (dresden lace style). There are a few tiny bits of the fancy lace that are broken off but not bad; you could touch those up with black paint and never notice any flaws. All the cold paint on the eyes and nose is intact. Next is a taller attractive black poodle with a stamped number on bottom of paw. It is 5.5 tall x 5 long; no chips or cracks. Last is the white poodle. This one has no chips or cracks and is 4.75 tall x 5.5 long. Age estimate is 1950's; that is when poodles were all the rage! 3/16

Beswick Comical Dalmation Dog
Vintage Beswick dalmation dog figurine. Comical looking dog with his ear sticking out. It has a stamp mark: England; foil Beswick England label and incised number #1002 on bottom. Net research indicates this figurine was made in 1960 so it is now considered 'vintage'. It stands 4.75 tall. No chips or cracks; some very faint crazing which is only visible if you have it right under your nose under a light. Very cute doggie! 3/16

Artist Signed Eagle Figurine
Artist signed Eagle figurine. Very well made porcelain figurine. Signed: Theo. Bottom has an incised mark but all I can make out is the word: xxxxxx Mold. This looks like studio art; not an amateur artist. It stands almost 14 inches tall. Not sure of the age but it is not brand new; there is some age on the bottom area. The only flaw on it is a brown pin dot on the tail. The photo shows a magnified close up; in reality, you probably would not ever notice it unless looking for it see photo #8. Not sure what it is; it might be a stray paint speck? The size is perfect for displaying; not too small, not oversized! 2/18

Chihuahua Vintage Dog Figurine
Cool vintage life size Chihuahua dog figurine. Cute as can be! Actually, a bit larger than my real chi-chi dogs, but mine are tiny. This dog is 12 inches tall in the seated position. It is made of some type of hard resin and is dated on bottom 8/13/78 so it is over 42 years old now and anything over 30 years is considered 'vintage'. It has a small scuff mark in the area between his eyes, see photo #2 and closer photo #8. The overall condition on this cutie is 'good vintage'. The price is firm; woof! PS: It looks cute under the x-mas tree! I had an identical that one sold that was marked: Marwal, Ind. Inc.; I assume the same company made this one. est1/09cs-r

Antique Bronze Cat Doorstop
Antique bronze cat doorstop. Very old, heavy cat. It is likely a Hubley, but I cannot find any markings on it and a lot of Hubley items I have sold did not have any markings on them. This kitty has a lot of green patination due to its age. In the doorstop book it is called the 'Fireside Cat'. It is 10 inches long x 5.5 tall. A very cool cat for your doorstop collection! 8/16

Vintage Japan Rooster and Hen Figurines
Vintage Japan rooster and hen figurines. c:pre WW2. Good size vintage rooster and hen with green backstamp: Japan in a wreath symbol. They have no chips or cracks and the rooster is 6 tall x 4 wide. Just a tad of cold paint missing off the hens top red feathers. You get both; most antique shops sell pairs for over $80! 8.04nycs

Vintage Cold Painted Rooster Shakers
Pair of vintage sooster shakers. c:pre-WW2. Good size with remnants of a foil label, but all I can see is the letter 'a', likely Japan labels. These have cork stoppers, and stand 5 tall x 4 wide. No chips or cracks, just some of the cold paint has flecked off in some spots. A neat old pair for your collection!

Rooster and Hen Vintage Figurines
Good sized pair of vintage rooster and hen figurine. They look small in the photos but they are pretty big and fat! Gorgeous pair, the rooster stands 6.5 tall, the hen is 6.25. I do not see any chips or cracks on these beauties. The colors are yellow, tan, teal, and rust/watermelon. Very lovely roosters for your collection! Age est: 1950's.

Retro Japan Rooster and Hen
Vintage Japan rooster and hen figurine. These have a Japan paper label on bottoms. Rooster is 7 tall x 5 wide from side view. Hen is a bit smaller. No chips or cracks, just a bit of wear around beaks. And, I do believe these are shown in one of the Made in Japan collectibles books on the back catalog pages.

Rooster Figurines Vintage
Attractive vintage rooster figurines. These are glossy glazed ceramic roosters; no cold paint. Not marked, but I believe they are vintage Japan, c.1950's or earlier. They are good sized being 6 inches tall up to tail feather x 4 long. They both have some itsy bitsy fleabite dots off the tail feathers and one toe. It is hard to even get good photos of them because they are tiny. You can dot those with black paint if you need perfection. The flaws are common on vintage ceramic items. Very attractive pair for your rooster collection! 4/16

Vintage rooster pair. Both have fragments of old paper 'Japan' labels on bottoms. Both are 6 inches tall x 4 inches long. Both have small bits of the red cold paint missing from their crops but are not bad at all. Very colorful and decorative for your rooster collection! 7/18
