Papago Basket Assortment Papago basket assortment. Three papago baskets being sold as a group = only $25 each. The bowl basket was purchased about 30 years ago in AZ for my own collection; the other two were purchased more recently but I don't know their actaul age. The bowl is 5.25 wide x 2 high. The covered basket with handle is 5 wide x 2.5 tall. The small hanging basket is almost 6 long x 5.25 wide. I believe these are made using Yucca plant fibers, (not sweet grass). They are all in good condition to display. Photo 7 are some other baskets for sale separately. 12/23vs

Native American Baskets Native American baskets. All three for one price; all came from various estates that had Native American basket collections. And, they all have similar fibers that appear to be from the Yucca plant. The first one is a large coiled basket. I believe they are all Hopi, Papago or Pima baskets. The first is a large bowl shaped basket. It is 15.5 wide and in good condition. Just one small spot where the fiber is worn near top rim. the next is a lidded basket. Both the Papago and Pima tribes made this type of basket but I believe it to be Papago. It does have some age to it since the darker exterior colors are somewhat faded in comparison to the interior. It is very well made, heavy, sturdy basket. The lid fits quite snugly. It is 4 tall x 5 wide. The last bowl basket is 10 inchest wide and quite well made also; rim of bowl is woven differently than than the larger bowl. Nice baskets for your collection. They'd likely cost you $300 each down in AZ. 5/14

Native American Basket Assortment Two very nice Native American baskets. Both for one price. I believe these are both Papago baskets. I purchased a tiny Papapgo basket in AZ about 35 years ago and the fibers match these. The first is a lovely lidded basket. It is tightly woven; well-made. It is 5 inches tall x 5 wide. It is not sweet grass, some other type of grass. The other basket is also nicely made with yucca and some other type of grass fiber. It is 10.75 wide. A virtually identical basket is shown on pg. 63 of S. Turnbaugh's book. This basket is 11 wide; nice condition; just a couple of the fibers torn. It is not antique, but does have a somewhat aged patina on it. These came from a collector's estate in MI. If you've ever been to a Pow Wow or a NA store, you know how much these baskets cost. They are hand made by very skilled craftspeople. 5/14

Native American Vintage Basket Vintage Native American basket. Nice old basket; good condition. It has sewing notions in it when purchased; but I removed them. This basket looks Iroquoin; but could be from Walpole Island but most of the Walpole baskets I have come across had dyed fibers; this one doesn't show any evidence of ever having been dyed. It is 4 inches tall x 7.75 wide. One broken fiber on the top look; otherwise, very nice old basket for your collection! 1/19es

Native American Baskets Vintage Native American basket assortment. All three for one price = only $45/each! Two are NA, the other one might not be. The first is the open basket with geometric design; this one looks like a Hopi basket. It is 8 wide x 5 tall and likely not very old but good condition. Next is a very old coiled basket with lid and handle; very tightly woven. Perhaps used to hold cord or yarn inside. The book on Native Am. baskets, pg. 55 by S. Turnbaugh shows a similar basket. The book lists that basket as Apache, (Southwestern). Interior of this basket has a geometric design, same colors as the book shows. It is 6.5 inches tall. Next is an older looking basket with handle and dangles. it is very well made; tightly woven. Not sure if this one is NA or S. American or African but is in an older one and very nice. Three great baskets for your collection! I need space so the baskets must be sold in groups to go! Baskets look great in contemporary, mission and arts & crafts style homes. Great to start or supplement your basket collection! 5/14vs

Native American Vintage Basket Vintage Native American sewing basket with notions. This is an OLD basket; stamped Made in Canada. I am fairly confident it was handmade on Walpole Island by Rosie Ermatinger or one of her trainees. She was a lovely old soul when I met her back in the early 1980's and she had been making baskets like this for many, many years. She was in her 80's at that time. The reason I think it is one of her baskets is because it appears to have had dyed fibers on it originally which are not mostly faded out and many of Rosie's baskets had dyed fibers. The basket is in good condition for its age; it is 9 wide x 4 tall. Age estimate: 1920's-30's. A nice old basket for your collection. 1/19

Hand Thrown Art Pottery Southwest style art pottery vase. Very HEAVY hand formed vase with a Southwest/Native American geometric design. Feels like stoneware; has ridges on interior indicating it was hand made. The black coloring on it is actually darker than the pictures show; my battery was low. This vase has an incised mark: SB RTR. and what looks like a symbol and a 5. Good condition, no chips or cracks. It measures about 6 wide x 3.25 tall. Would be lovely with mission, southwest style furnishings, or with other stoneware.

Vintage Basket Beautiful vintage basket with handles. Outstanding basket; nice patina; great workmanship. I do not know if this is Native American or Oriental, but I know that it is an oldie and a beautiful basket! My educated guess is Native American. It has just a bit of wear; the interior lid rim has one broken fiber. It is very dried out and fragile. I would estimate its age to be from the 1920's or earlier. Not sure what it's function was either; sewing/fishing? This was purchased from another antique dealer who is liquidating his wife's collections. A lot of dealers who do not like to go on-line are closing their shops now and selling off their items so you savvy on-line shoppers are getting the best for less! At any rate, this will make a lovely addition to your basket collection! 4/14brcs

Vintage Iroquoian? Basket Vintage Native American basket. Really nice Native American basket; purchased at a Pow Wow in MI about 30 years ago. Said to be Iroquoian, but I think it might be Cherokee; purchased at a Pow Wow in MI; age est: early 20thC. This basket has a very dark patina on it, and red and green dyed fibre. Good vintage condition and is 3.25 tall x 5.5 wide. I am parting with some of my personal collection of baskets; no space left! A great book on Native baskets is by S.P. Turnbaugh, 2004 edition.

Artist Signed Pottery Vintage Vase Very nice vintage artist signed art pottery vase. c:1947. Signed Hermetz and dated 2-26-47 incised on its glazed bottom; good condition, no chips or cracks. It is very heavy for its size and has some very faint crazing which you only see on the ivory portion if you are looking very close, but other than that, it is perfect for being 66 years old! I am not familiar with this artist, but whomever he/she was, they were very talented. A great vase for a Southwest or Mission style room. Any white spots that appear in the pics is glare from the camera flash and overhead light, (I took these at night). It is almost 4 inches tall x 4.5 wide.
Circa: 1947

This attractive box has a cowboy boots and saddle motif. It holds one box of cards and is 6 long x 4 wide x 2 tall. There is some wear along the edges, but its not bad. The photos showing the flaws are magnified photos. You can touch those spots up with dark color Old English if you want to. A great vintage accessory piece if you have a Western themed room! 10/18

doorstop50610

Antique Stagecoach Doorstop Antique Royal London Mail Stagecoach doorstop. It features 2 gentlemen atop a mail stagecoach. Has the initials: GR N17, and pat. pending on one of the wheels. It stands 7 tall x 12 long. Good overall condition; just a couple of specks of white paint drips near horse's eye. This item is not grainy as a newer cast iron piece would be; the metal is very smooth, indicative of an 'antique' doorstop. It is shown in the book on antique metalware, 2nd edit, pg. 67. A wonderful antique collectible! This item came from the estate of a deceased car executive here in MI; he had very fine items that were in very good condition. 5/06estaucs
