Victorian Niagara Falls Trinket Box Awesome antique Niagara Falls brass trinket/jewelry box. The lid is glass with a picture of Niagara Falls. The picture has little cut aways in it seemingly for a 3-d effect. The interior lid has a puffy silk lining, but this is very worn and torn; on the bottom interior there is an old silk piece of fabric with orchids. This box is quite hefty and the brass is very detailed and lovely. There are also 6 bunnies in the box that you get with it, (they were there when purchased). Age est: Victorian era. A great cross-collectible: souvineer and vintage vanity item! One of a kind. 10/08estcs

oil92907

Victorian Candle Shield Oil Antique signed oil painted candle shield. Bottom of ormolu? base has incised mark that reads 'OOPER'; lst letter is worn off, but in the photo you can make out an 'H'. Attributed to Henry Hooper, a well-known Boston Mfg. of brass, bronze and metalworks. The painting is signed 'Peterboro'. Stunning fine art, oil painting on board. The painting features a church; windmill, cottage; women and children, etc. Painting has all over striations/crazing. One tiny area appears to be just about ready to flake off just above the windmill, (a professional can correct that very easily). The painting is attached to an metal base which has a lever to adjust the shield up or down. In down position this item stands 15.75 tall x 9 wide, (small painting, but truly beautiful!). Candle shields were used to deflect heat away from a person seated near a candle. It is a wonderful, unique item; a work of art for the discriminating consumer! An item you may never come across again in your lifetime. If you need a fabulous furniture accessory, this is it! USA only. 9/06cryau#

sampler1115

Needlepoint Sampler Antique Antique needlepoint sampler. Very attractive needlepoint picture on linen that reads: 'Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread'. It depicts a bread loaf, wheat stalks, and rolling pin. It is 15.5 tall x 25.5 wide. Flaws; see photos 4-5; it is missing a piece of the wood scroll motif on the outer right edge of one corner of the frame; and has one faded spot near right side of the linen; otherwise it is in good overall vintage condition. Needlepoint or cross-stitching; not a crafter, so I might be using incorrect terminology. You can leave in this frame, or it would also be great in a Mission style frame! It would be great in a Victorian style room! bmau3/06#1393

Apollo Vanity Tray & Brush Antique Apollo vanity tray with a hand mirror. c: 1909-1922. The tray is marked Apollo but the beveled hand mirror is not marked, but it also looks like an Apollo item, (very intricate metal work on it). The tray has heavy brass metal surround and has darkened with age. You can gold leaf it, shabby chic it, leave as is, or use antique gold paint to brighten it up. It is a lovely silvered mirrored tray with some some faint surface and age wear showing as expected. However, once you set your perfume bottles and jars on it, you won't notice any flaws. It is 17 long x 12.25 wide. The mirror is 9 long x 4.5 wide. You can also use these as table centerpieces with a large crystal bowl or vase displayed on it. 1/13

Antique Vanity Jars Antique vanity jars. Both jars for one price. The vanity tray is not included. These are very pretty jars. The lids are brassed tin with picture of a colonial lady. The glass is very yellow under a black light indicating these were made before 1916. One of the jars has a fissure within the glass; it looks like a crack in the photo but nothing is felt with my fingertip; it is within layers of glass and is very tiny. The lid on one has a small corroded spot, see photo. The two flaws, photos 5-6, are tiny and these jars are just lovely despite them! You can use as powder jars or for jewelry and trinkets. 3/15s

Victorian Vanity Jar Victorian antique vanity jar. c: 1800's-1916. Gorgeous art nouveau jar that glows a strong yellow under a black night. It is very clear and in good condition; no maker's mark. The lid is tin or pot metal; and this jar would have been used to collect human hair. The Victorians used the hair to make decorative pictures and wigs. This jar is 3.75 tall x 4.5 wide. There is a little scratch on the interior bottom of jar but it doesn't show unless you open the lid and look down into the jar. You could use the jar for pot pourri or pins, etc. This is a beautiful accessory for your vanity table or to give as a unique gift for the feminine lady in your life! 10/18

Antique Celluloid Glove Box and Gloves Antique celluloid glove box and gloves. Gorgeous box with celluloid rose picture on top. These boxes were very popular during the Victorian era. Inside has a green satin lining; intact, but is dusty. You also get the vintage white gloves as a free gift! This box is 11.5 long x 3 inches tall x 3.5 deep. Pretty good overall condition; most of the paper is intact on this one. It also has a very nice brass clasp. A beautiful way to store your vintage gloves or ties. The paper on these boxes is very delicate; if you're a collector of them, you already knew that, so be careful when handling them.

Victoriana Vanity Boxes Antique Victoriana vanity boxes. Both boxes for one price = $60/each. The darker box is a beautiful, heavy box with brass surround. It has a small celluloid hard picture of a Victorian lady, (Marie Antoinette?). It has a glass liner and is 3.25 tall x 4.5 wide. Marked: P.N.C.W, Made in USA. PNCW = Progress Novelty Casting Works, N.Y., c: 1920's-60's. The other box is a lovely aged box with a celluloid top and a larger picture of the same lady. It is 4.5 wide x 1.75 tall and has a bit more tarnish and some staining on the edges of the celluloid. No glass liner in this one and there is no maker's mark. The celluloid picture on the this box has a small break in it which is not really apparent unless you press on the top to see it, (see closeup photo). Great antique boxes for your dressing table! The darker box is likely from the early 20's. They were probably for powder or trinkets/jewelry. 1/22vs

Antique English Revolving Butter Cooler Antique English revolving butter cooler. Unique item. Brushed metal with revolving lid, the metal looks like pewter, and there is a glass insert. The glass insert has no dips in it for a cigarette which is why I think it must be a butter cooler and not an ash receiver. It has 3 legs with claw and ball feet. Incised, 'Made in England' mark on bottom, and it is 5.5 tall x 5. wide. You also get 6 crystal or flint glass coasters marked: 'France' on them which were purchased separately. 1/10rocs

Limoges Antique Signed Tray Antique hand painted artist signed Pouyat French limoges porcelain tray. c:1899. Signed, Anna K. Stiotel '99, with green J.P.L. over France backstamp. The painting is quite exquisite, and if it weren't signed Anna K. Stiotel it could easily be mistaken for a Bischoff painting. There is a lot of depth in the painting; it is not just roses on a blank background. No chips, cracks, or repairs. It does have a couple of tiny aging flaws: some white/straw marks on the pink rose and the burdgandy rose, and some wear off the gold on the handle as can be expected for a 100+ year tray. It is 12.5 long x 8.75 wide. Ornately scrolled shape with pierced handles. 5/03brcs

doulton10819

Antique Doulton Biscuit Jar Sensational antique Doulton & Co. earthenware biscuit jar. c: 1858-1891. It appears to be hand painted and is in 'very good antique' condition. The bottom has a tiny incised mark: 'Doulton', (predecesser of Royal Doulton), and a red underglaze mark: 'A2171', and initials: 'WJ', (artist's initials I presume). Very difficult to get a picture of the marks due to the color of jar and being that the lettering is very tiny and worn; you need a good magnifier. The metal is silverplate, very sturdy, but unmarked; just the interior underside of lid is pitted, see pic#8. The silverplate has become darker since I took the pics; tarnish, as expected, but I leave the polishing up to you. This is a good sized jar, standing 9 inches tall up to top of handle; 7 tall to finial; or 6 tall if measuring up to lid rim. Some faint crazing on body and bottom of jar, really not noticeable unless you are under a strong light; and there is a small discolored spot of spidering on the interior bottom as expected for its age and use. One side of the jar has a crouching hunting dog amongst the flowers, and the other side has a quail. This is an amazing piece of earthenware. I have not come across anything comparable to this jar. shau-11-07

biscuitjar1014

Antique Fielding English Biscuit Jar Antique Staffordshire tea biscuit jar. This is a big fat jar even though it appears somewhat small in the photo, I had to take the photo from further away to get it all in. This Victorian era earthenware jar has incised EPNS Made in England on lid, = electroplated nickel silver, aka silver plate. The bottom is backstamped in brown: With Peek, Frean & Co's Compliments, crown symbol, S.F. & Co. England, and an initial; and there is a raised square with a number in it = S. Fielding & Co., Stoke, Staffordshire. No chips or cracks; but does have some crazing. The floral design appears to be transferware with some hand painting. It stands 6 tall; top rim is 4.5 wide. There is some age/wear and pits on the upper metal rim, and one little crackle in the silverplate rim edge, see photos; but overall, this item is quite nice. A delightful jar for your collection! 11/14ggar#

Antique Biscuit Jar Stunning antique biscuit jar. The pictures are not showing just how magnificent it really is. It has gold highlights; and the lid and rim are marked EPNS. It is 6.75 tall up to finial x 5.25 wide. There is a red mark on the bottom but it is so worn I have no idea what it says. I would attribute it to an English company in the Staffordshire region but that's my opinion based on similar looking items I've sold in the past that had markings on them. It is transferware on earthenware. The perfect feminine gift! 11/14ut

Hall China Slop Jar and Shaving Mug Antique Hall China slop jar and shaving mug. c: 1903. The shipping will be calculated after your order is placed because it is not boxed yet. The slop jar was missing the lid and bail handle but I found another antique bail handle that fits it and a lid. The lid has a similar frond like pattern, not identical but close; and is a good fit for this jar. The slop jar has one small firing line near bottom rim, (this is a separation line caused during firing; the edges are smooth, it is not a hairline) and some old gouges/small chips on rim which don't show or affect stance. You also get the antique Hall shaving mug. The mug shows some age wear but no chips or cracks. It is 3.5 tall x 3.5 wide. Both feel like ironstone. Both items feel like ironstone. Slop jars were usually placed under the washstand. Great items for a vintage powder room display!
