Matte Green Art Pottery Early matte green art pottery vase. It is green, see picture 4 of it next to a matte aqua vase, and pic #8. Hand formed; has ridges on interior. Might be early Roseville or Pewabic, have not had time to check any books yet. I am in MI so Pewabic is more probable. No chips or cracks; has some stray blackish marks on the exterior which is quite common on matte pottery. It is just a bit over 6 inches tall x 5 wide at top. Very nice piece of Arts & Crafts pottery. 2/11ro#3502

Antique Hammered Copper Vase Awesome antique hammered copper vase. This vase looks a bit small in the photo, but this is a good sized vase. Incised mark: 'Mexico'. This is a really fabulous piece; very attractive with a great patina. Age est: 1910-20's or earlier. Nice condition; quite hefty with wrought iron handles that are riveted onto the base with old deep reddish paint on the handles. It stands 10 inches tall x 9 wide. An great furniture accessory. Burley Winter Jardiniere & Pedestal Large vintage Burley Winter pottery jardiniere and pedestal. c:1872-1930's Shipping will be calculated after order is placed unless you want to email me your zip code prior to ordering. I know it looks small in the photos because I had to stand far away to get it all in! Gorgeous, hard to find with the pedestal! The jard is 11 wide x 9.5 tall; the pedestal is 15.5 tall x 9.5 wide; jard on ped stands 25.5 tall. No cracks; just one tiny glaze pop or fleabite on bottom rim of jard, it really is not even worth mentioning. The colors are green, pumpkin and bits of blue. The pattern around top is one that is not often found, (pattern shown on pg. 37 of the book). Put it on your wish list and have your significant other get it for you! Click for more detail...

roseville4081

Art Pottery Antique Milkweed Vase Antique matte green art pottery vase. This vase is a deeper, darker green than the pictures are showing it. It has embossed milkweed or poppy pod and stems. Faint incised number #205 on bottom. Four tiny feet and 3 stilt marks. It has some very minor flaws: a small depression in the clay on rim edge, (no change in glaze or texture); one teensy rim nick; and a tiny dot on a bottom foot that is either a fleabite or a glaze pop. The interior is quite worn and has a dark spot on the interior bottom, and there are some gray lines which is common on antique matte pottery. None of the minor flaws amount to much, I just mention them so you are aware. I believe this is an early Roseville Pottery item circa 1915-1920, but could possibly be another American company. It is 6.5 wide x 3.25 tall. One observer related it might be early Brush McCoy art pottery. It would make a fine addition your Arts & Crafts style room! 3/08ro#

Click for more detail...

artpottery060911

French Iridescent Signed Art Pottery Fabulous signed vintage iridescent art pottery swan vase. c:1891-1957. The signature looks like F. Gazietto, Vallauris, however, a collector has notified me the signature is actually 'J. Gazielle'; (the artist crossed the ll's like t's, and the 'F' is actually a 'J'. This artist worked from 1891-1957 in Vallauris, France. Judging by the dark, worn, smooth bottom rim and all over crazing, I'd guess it is from the 1920's. The iridescent glaze is gorgeous. It looks like Tiffany art glass but this is old pottery not glass. Very hefty. It is 6 inches tall x 6.5 long. According to the collector this artist also had some connection to Weller Sicard and early Pewabic Pottery who also specialized in this type of iridescent glaze. It has 2 minor flaws; one small chip on wing edge and one fleabite on tail feather edge. The flaws look larger due to close-up shots; but in reality, they are not really very noticeable. It is a deep blue/green but also has amethyst in it; when it is dark out, it looks amethyst. The glazing on this piece is spectacular. This is a heavy piece and quite stunning! 6/11smc

Very nice arts and crafts vase. The color is a very deep burgandy; I believe the book calls this color 'mahogany' as opposed to the lighter colored 'matte rose'. The mahogany is mentioned on pg. 28 of J. Rans book and shown on pg. 152 and 157 Catalog 4. That would put it's manufacturing date around 1912-1920's. I also have this vase in the gloss aqua and matte green for sale separately. The matte green would be the 20's and the aqua would be the 30's. Final markdown. 11/12
Circa: 1920

Art Pottery Face Vase Art Pottery face vase. Large, heavy vase with initials AA on bottom. .The face looks Native American to me, but I can't be totally sure. It stands 11 inches tall x 6 wide x 6 deep. Not sure of the age or who AA is. This was purchased from an estate sale in MI. It is a very striking piece of art pottery! 9/16

Hand Formed Art Pottery Vase Vintage hand formed art pottery vase. Raised leaf on front and back. Aqua interior. No chips or cracks. It is a lovely vase with applied handles. It stands 7.25 tall x 4.25 wide across top rim. I do not who made it; it might be studio pottery, possibly Red Wing/Rum Rill. The bottom is quite worn and smooth indicating age. It has a pencil mark on the bottom, but I cannot tell if it is initials or numbers. Age estimate: 1930's. It is an off white color on the exterior and it is very heavy, like stoneware. 7/18ut

Arts & Crafts Matte Green Vase Arts and crafts matte green vase. Deep, dark color. Yellow clay peeking through bottom. Might be Rookwood or another great maker. The incised geometric design is very similar to a taller Rookwood shown in the A&C book by Treadway Gallery 1998, pg. 85. This vase has an underglaze #218 mark on bottom. It stands 6.25 tall x 4.5 wide at top rim. It has a very tight hairline on top that goes through to interior; the exterior of the hairline has 2 teensy fleabites near it, see pic 4-5. It is quite an old one; age est: 1900's. This came from an estate in Troy, MI; the deceased owners had quite a collection of art pottery. The price reflects the minor flaws. A wonderful addition for your arts & crafts collection. This item is as is, as described and not returnable so please read description and view all photos before purchase. If item is lost or damaged in transit, you must file a claim at usps and I will provide you with the postal receipts. 8/09inteset#

Early Arts & Crafts Matte Vase Early hand thrown blended matte glaze vase. Possibly Rookwood, Arequipa, Wheatley, Pewabic; the style/pattern looks similar to several vases shown in the Arts & Crafts book. Nice size vase. It is hand thrown and quite hefty and is almost 8 inches tall. Incised mark: M. T. #230. It has some crazing and one small chip near top rim which does show on one side. A professional repair might be worth it since this was most likely made by an important company/artist around the 1900's. There was an artist with these initials that worked for Weller, but I doubt this is a Weller. Pottery artists moved around frequently. Price reflects the flaw. Perfect for your Arts & Crafts room! In a good economy this item would be priced at $1200. 8/09intest#

Early Art Pottery Vase Striking signed early hand formed art pottery vase. The bottom looks like E. Blun or Ed Blun; the 'D' is a bit far from the E so not sure if it is E. or Ed. Anyway, this is an oldie, but goodie! Matte aqua finish and rays of lighter clay coming up from the bottom. It stands 7 inches tall and has 2 handles. Around the handle ends the aqua glaze missed and those areas are the lighter color clay but there is clear glazing over those areas. It has a couple of tiny glaze bubble pops also. Overall, it is a very nice piece of pottery. Great for a mission/arts and crafts room or collection. Age est: 1920's. 10/13nh

Limoges Jardiniere Antique Guerin Stunning antique Guerin Limoges porcelain jardiniere. c:1900-1932. Features large poppies w/black background. A similar jard, albeit with white background is shown on pg. 149 of M. Gaston's book. This jard is marked, but the mark is hard to see in the picture; the book shows the mark on pg. 134, mark 3, if you need to see it more clearly. No chips or cracks and has a 23 inch diameter; and is 5.5 across top rim; and 5.25 tall. It has one 1 inch scratch on one side, (against the black background), which is really only visible if you have this in front of your nose in clear lighting. A unique quality piece! Fabulous in an oriental or traditional/classic style room.

Large Antique Porcelain Vase Nippon? Large stunning antique porcelain vase. Definitely looks like Nippon but it is not marked so it was probably not made for export. It has gorgeous hand painted roses, beading and gold overlay. It is 13.75 tall. It has some minor flaws, but displays very well. Flaws: some straw marks, a 1/4 inch white spot, (where color did not adhere to the clay); a tiny white spot on rim, (gold has flecked off), a yellowish spot, (might be old price tag or paper label glue), and the top is somewhat irregularly shaped but does appear to be the original; it might be a hand thrown vase. It has a well worn bottom rim indicating a lot of age. It is a fabulous vase despite the aging flaws. 10.06.au#

Limoges Jardiniere T & V Antique Large antique Tresseman & Vogt Limoges porcelain jardiniere. c:1892-1907. Fine hand painted art with a lot of depth and detail and is 9.25 tall x 9 wide x 37 inches around. No cracks or repairs detected; it has a very tiny, (about 1/16 inch, see pic #6), separation line on very bottom of exterior of jard which does not permeate interior of jard. The tiny firing line is a factory flaw which occurs during firing when the clay separates. The background colors are teal blue, green, light brown with a lot of depth to the painting. One side features a large deep pink rose and pale pink rose; other side has deep pink rose and yellow rose. Bottom has green backstamp T&V over Limoges France; mark 7, M. Gaston's book. Compare the fine art painting on this with other limoges jards on the net which just have a plain white background, no depth or detail. Purchased in MI so it is possible that it could be a Bischoff or a student of his. USA destinations only. See the 4/15/13 cover of The Auction Exchange; a D&C Limoges jard just sold for $1,100 which is usually 1/3 of retail value. That jard had a plain white background and not much depth to the painting unlike this magnificent jard! Please email me your zip code prior to ordering for a more accurate shipping quote. du

dclimoges0712

Limoges Jardiniere Antique D & C Large antique Delinieres & Co. French limoges jardiniere with gold paste lion handles. c:1894-1900. Outstanding fine art hand painted jard. Purchased in MI at a very old estate. The owners were said to have entertained politicians, artists, musicians, etc. This jard could be a Franz Bishoff or one of his students since he was in Michigan around the time this was made. It has the spiderwebs and a great deal of depth. I could not locate an artist signature but the bottom has the green D&C limoges backstamp. No chips or cracks but has some minor flaws; however, for being over 100 years old, it is a really beautiful work of art. Flaws: it some gold paint missing on each lion; some tiny white straw marks on the roses but there is glaze over those, and one exterior scratch this is hard to find unless right under your nose. There is also some wear off the gold rim. The interior bottom is worn because it had been used as a planter with live plants in it; it had some dirt still in it when purchased, see pics. Picture #7 shows the intricate spider webs painted on this jard; those are not cracks or hairlines. It is 9 inches tall x 9.25 wide and it is quite fat. Price is firm. USA only; cashier's check only. If you want to order it, please e-mail me your zip code first for a more accurate shipping quote. 10/06thau#202
