shave100531a

Vintage Feminine Shaving Accessories Vintage feminine shaving accessories. Perfect for your new, made to look vintage powder room! First is a cool mug, (I assume it is a shaving mug), with pink roses on it, (heavy duty; transferware). Bottom has a circular backstamp, Made in Something, (it is too faint to make out, but it is not Japan, because there are too many letters, could be Germany, Austria, etc.) It is 3.5 tall x 3.5 wide, no chips or cracks. Next is a vintage shaving brush to go in the mug, (4 tall, badger bristles). Next is a small white vintage Homer Laughlin platter to set these items on; backstamped in green, Homer Laughlin, Made in USA, F 37, (1937), N 5. It is 9.25 long x 7 wide. Next is a beautiful vintage hankie, (white on white w/delicate hand-done stitching. Next are two Avon milk glass sachet bottles with orig. boxes, (no sachet left inside bottles). (You could add a vintage razor with it and set it atop an antique washstand!) Pic #3 shows a cool way to display your mustache/shaving mugs!

J. P. Coats Spool Cotton Mustache Mug J. P. Coats Spool Cotton Mustache Mug. Numbered: 7679. I do not know the manufacturer or this mug; might have been a promotional mug for the spool company noted above. The colonial men on horseback are transferware design. No chips or cracks. One small depression in the rim edge near handle; see photo 7, but that is glazed over so that is just how it was made. The mug is a bit over 3.5 inches tall x 3.25 wide. A nice mug for your shaving collection! 4/16

biscuitjar1014

Antique Fielding English Biscuit Jar Antique Staffordshire tea biscuit jar. This is a big fat jar even though it appears somewhat small in the photo, I had to take the photo from further away to get it all in. This Victorian era earthenware jar has incised EPNS Made in England on lid, = electroplated nickel silver, aka silver plate. The bottom is backstamped in brown: With Peek, Frean & Co's Compliments, crown symbol, S.F. & Co. England, and an initial; and there is a raised square with a number in it = S. Fielding & Co., Stoke, Staffordshire. No chips or cracks; but does have some crazing. The floral design appears to be transferware with some hand painting. It stands 6 tall; top rim is 4.5 wide. There is some age/wear and pits on the upper metal rim, and one little crackle in the silverplate rim edge, see photos; but overall, this item is quite nice. A delightful jar for your collection! 11/14ggar#

Antique Royal Bonn Cheesekeeper Antique Royal Bonn transferware cheesekeeper. Or butterkeeper. Being sold as collectible display items and not for food use since I did not make them, nor do I know if they have anything harmful in them. The underplate was not with this item when purchased; so I put a nice vintage Homer Laughlin plate under it that has the same coloring on the rim edge, and looks rather nice with this item. The castle mark dates to 1836-1920. The mark is a green castle; backward FAM mark inside castle, then Bonn, Germany. FAM stands for Franz Anton Mehlem. The cheesekeeper has a vent hole in lid; features gorgeous pastel Irises, and has no chips or cracks but is showing a lot of wear around bottom rim edge. Very beautiful despite not having the original underplate for it, but you do get the HLC plate with it. If it had the original underplate, the price on it would be much, much higher!

Antique Earthenware Biscuit Jar Antique earthenware biscuit jar with transferware design. Lid and rim has EPNS mark, = electroplated nickel silver. 99% sure it is a Staffordshire jar/pattern. Nice deep cobalt blue with flowers and gold trim and fancy handle. Has faint crazing, and some wear on the gold but no cracks or chips. Also on one side of metal lid rim are two small worn areas; see photos. This is a good sized jar and was likely made in England in the late 1800's. It is 5.5 to lid rim; 7 inches to finial, and 10 inches tall if handle is up. It is a very lovely old jar. Once used on Victorian tables for tea biscuits. 8/08nyant-MC

turkeyplatter1018

Vintage Transferware Turkey Platter Vintage Transferware turkey platter. Large platter; it is not porcelain or earthenware. It feels like it might be ironstone. It is 18.5 long x almost 14 wide. It looks like some of it is hand painted under glaze and there is a stray blue dot under the glaze on it, see photo #5. The backside also has some stray paint under the glaze as well as a small gouge in the backside edge of the platter, photos #6-7. That gouge is not a chip because it is glazed over; just an imperfection. There are no maker's marks on it; I doubt if this tray was for oven use, but was likely just used to put the turkey on once it was cooked. 10/18

transferwareplatter1212b

Patented Antique Large Transferware Platter Large patented transferware platter. c: 1885-86, Backstamp: Tournay, crown over shield symbol, Royal Premium, T & R Boote, England, Rd No. 33645 and incised: Rd.31073. This is a heavy platter with transferware design. It feels like ironstone. It has a repairable flaw which is not noticeable unless looking for it. There is a 3 inch hairline that goes through the platter with one small fleabite on the top surface side on rim, see closeups of pics 6-7. You can put porcelain repair on the underside to seal the hairline or take to a ceramic shop to repair it. If just displaying it, you probably would never notice it unless it's under your nose. This platter is 16.75 long x 12 wide. It also has a couple of straw marks; also not noticeable. Very large, attractive antique. 12/12scsr

teacup110406

Vintage Porcelain Mug and Saucer Porcelain mug and saucer with transferware picture of peasant women. It could be a German shaving mug or might be for coffee or hot chocolate, it is too big to be a teacup I believe. The bottom of cup has incised numbers: 1339 over 7200. The saucer is 5.75 wide; cup is 3.5 tall x 3 wide. The cup has one teensy fleabite on the upper rim; hard to spot it, you can find it by running a finger around the rim. The saucer has some white spots on pink area, but this is under the glaze. Very pretty item for display!
