Nippon Footed Antique Vase Antique Nippon footed vase. c:pre 1921. Research indicates this may be known as 'black Nippon', which was pottery made to resemble Chinese bronze of 400 years ago. This is a very unique vases that has 3 feet; and a bronze and black like finish. It has an incised mark: 'Made in Nippon' as well as a date or artist's mark in a square; the symbols are too tiny to make out. Overall 'good antique' condition. There is a 2 inch scratch on interior side of vase; it does not appear to be a hairline, just a scratch; and some paint loss flakes on interior bottom. It is 4.25 tall x 8.5 wide from rim to rim; at bottom rim it is 9.5 wide. What is known for sure is that it was made pre-1921 as that is when the 'Nippon' mark was used; after 1921 it would be marked 'Japan'. Its an oldie but goodie!
Circa: 1920

Hand Thrown Art Pottery Southwest style art pottery vase. Very HEAVY hand formed vase with a Southwest/Native American geometric design. Feels like stoneware; has ridges on interior indicating it was hand made. The black coloring on it is actually darker than the pictures show; my battery was low. This vase has an incised mark: SB RTR. and what looks like a symbol and a 5. Good condition, no chips or cracks. It measures about 6 wide x 3.25 tall. Would be lovely with mission, southwest style furnishings, or with other stoneware.

Artist Signed Pottery Vintage Vase Very nice vintage artist signed art pottery vase. c:1947. Signed Hermetz and dated 2-26-47 incised on its glazed bottom; good condition, no chips or cracks. It is very heavy for its size and has some very faint crazing which you only see on the ivory portion if you are looking very close, but other than that, it is perfect for being 66 years old! I am not familiar with this artist, but whomever he/she was, they were very talented. A great vase for a Southwest or Mission style room. Any white spots that appear in the pics is glare from the camera flash and overhead light, (I took these at night). It is almost 4 inches tall x 4.5 wide.

stoneware80408

Antique Stoneware Flower Pot Antique stoneware pot. Looks like a flower pot but could be some type of specialized food crock. It is either stoneware or possibly redware. The pictures are showing some reddened areas on it, but in real life, it is just deep dark rich brown, called an Albany slip glaze. No chips or cracks and stands 6 tall x almost 7 wide across top rim. It has one glaze pop on side of it. Bottom is very worn and almost black. If you look in the Zanesville or Monmouth books you will see some similar items on the catalog pages. Or, look in the books on redware, and it also shows similar items. I would estimate this dates to the late 19th C, early 20th. A very unique item to add to your collection!

Brown Glazed Horseshoe Shape Mold Brown glazed horseshoe shaped mold. (numbered). Very attractive gloss brown glazed horseshoe shaped mold made with red clay, (redware?). It looks like something from the 1960's judging by the color, but not sure, it could be older, but is not an antique mold. Pretty certain it is German. Very attractive and very well made, and has a number under the glaze near the eyelet: 939-19. The other brown glazed turkshead mold I had for sale was numbered in the same way, in the same spot, so these must have been made by the same company. No chips or cracks and has an eyelet for hanging. It is 7 long x 6.25 wide. The exterior side of this mold has a raised scrolly design with 4 tiny dry round feet. Use it or just dislay it!

mccoy80505b

Brush McCoy Willow Ware Cuspidor Antique Brush-McCoy Willow Ware cuspidor. c:1916. Shown in the 1978 book by S. Huxford; the updated value in 1996 was $115-175.00, see pg. 60-61. For a clearer image of the pattern on this cuspidor see the book by M. Sanford, pg. 29, top right; shows a chamber pot with the same design on it; and the cuspidor is shown on pg. 31, top right. It is hard to see the design on the dark brown Willow Ware items, and easier to see on the blue and white Willow Ware. Very heavy and is 5.25 tall x 7.5 wide at top rim. It has one chip off bottom dry rim; barely visible when cuspidor is upright. Also has one clay gouge in body of cuspidor, (that is glazed over). It can be displayed with other stoneware; on a wetbar; or used as a planter for a fern or orchid! A great piece for your BM Pottery or antique stoneware collection!
Circa: 1916

Antique Nelson McCoy Matte Vase Antique McCoy Pottery leaves & berries matte finish vase. c:1920's. Very good size old vase; soft matte tan/brown and green. It is 7.25 tall x 6.5 wide at body. Very heavy; looks kind of small in the pictures, but it is a good sized vase, and is a darker tan color. One flaw: It has one old tiny chip off bottom dry rim which really doesn't even show when vase is upright, see picture 5 & 6. Really only visible when you pick the vase up at an angle and that is a close up, so chip appears larger than it is. 11/08csdix

Antique Brush McCoy Onyx Antique Brush McCoy brown onyx glaze vase. c: 1910-1930's. Very rich colors; heavy pottery with 3 digit number on bottom. It is 6.75 tall. It has some flaws, price reflects the flaws. It has some pinpops, clay gouges, and 2 fleabites along bottom rim, one small chip on bottom rim and one tiny chip in top rim which is mainly on interior rim edge. Displays nice as a shelf piece; very rich coloring in this vase. I have another vase, same size and maker for sale separately on the left in one of the pictures.
