Vintage Cast Aluminum Boston Terrior Vintage cast aluminum Boston Terrior dog figurine. On the backside he has raised lettering: GALE. I believe this was an advertising item from Gale Electric Co. A very unique item for your collection! Age estimate: 1920's

doulton10819

Antique Doulton Biscuit Jar Sensational antique Doulton & Co. earthenware biscuit jar. c: 1858-1891. It appears to be hand painted and is in 'very good antique' condition. The bottom has a tiny incised mark: 'Doulton', (predecesser of Royal Doulton), and a red underglaze mark: 'A2171', and initials: 'WJ', (artist's initials I presume). Very difficult to get a picture of the marks due to the color of jar and being that the lettering is very tiny and worn; you need a good magnifier. The metal is silverplate, very sturdy, but unmarked; just the interior underside of lid is pitted, see pic#8. The silverplate has become darker since I took the pics; tarnish, as expected, but I leave the polishing up to you. This is a good sized jar, standing 9 inches tall up to top of handle; 7 tall to finial; or 6 tall if measuring up to lid rim. Some faint crazing on body and bottom of jar, really not noticeable unless you are under a strong light; and there is a small discolored spot of spidering on the interior bottom as expected for its age and use. One side of the jar has a crouching hunting dog amongst the flowers, and the other side has a quail. This is an amazing piece of earthenware. I have not come across anything comparable to this jar. shau-11-07

Circa: 1800's

Poodle Figurines Vintage Trio Three vintage poodle figurines. First is the black poodle with foil label: Fine Quality 'A' Japan; the A might stand for Ardalt. This poodle is 6.5 long x 4 tall. Very detailed tail, ears, paws, (dresden lace style). There are a few tiny bits of the fancy lace that are broken off but not bad; you could touch those up with black paint and never notice any flaws. All the cold paint on the eyes and nose is intact. Next is a taller attractive black poodle with a stamped number on bottom of paw. It is 5.5 tall x 5 long; no chips or cracks. Last is the white poodle. This one has no chips or cracks and is 4.75 tall x 5.5 long. Age estimate is 1950's; that is when poodles were all the rage! 3/16

Robia Ware Antique Springer Spaniel Antique Robia Ware chalkware Springer Spaniel. Glass eyes; very heavy, almost feels like cement, (maybe plaster mixed with cement; it is not the lighter weight, newer chalkware.) I came across an identical dog at an antique store; the dog had an old foil label on it with the manufacture info. The difference was that the dog at the shop was a bit lighter in weight and the eyes were painted, not glass. So, my dog is much older. The company is called: Roman Art Co., Inc. St. Louis MO., Robia Ware, c: 1907. That company was famous for their animal and religious items. They went out of biz in 1974. My dog is missing the foil label and has some paint loss, especially where the old label or price tag must have been near its tail. It has some age/wear, but he still displays good. Almost 8 tall x 6 long. As is, as found. I have another one that matches this dog except it is a bit smaller in size, (male & female?); and it also has the glass eyes and is heavy. Age estimate: 1920's or earlier. If you want both dogs, let me know and I'll adjust the weight and price. They'd be attractive on each end of a breakfront, fireplace or nightstands. 8/09csgs

Small Vintage Dog Figurine Small vintage dog with bone figurine. Well made, cute! . Not sure who made it. It is pottery and stands 3.25 tall x 4.25 long. He has all over crazing and some spidering on underside. My guess is either German made or a California company, maybe Brayton Laguna. 1/14

Chihuahua Vintage Dog Figurine Cool vintage life size Chihuahua dog figurine. Cute as can be! Actually, a bit larger than my real chi-chi dogs, but mine are tiny. This dog is 12 inches tall in the seated position. It is made of some type of hard resin and is dated on bottom 8/13/78 so it is over 42 years old now and anything over 30 years is considered 'vintage'. It has a small scuff mark in the area between his eyes, see photo #2 and closer photo #8. The overall condition on this cutie is 'good vintage'. The price is firm; woof! PS: It looks cute under the x-mas tree! I had an identical that one sold that was marked: Marwal, Ind. Inc.; I assume the same company made this one. est1/09cs-r

Setter Dog Antique Bookends Great looking antique Setter dog bookends. c:1925. I believe these are Littco but could be Hubley. Hubley also made this bookend, but Hubley did not usually use paper labels like these have on them. These are iron with brass/bronze finish. Good vintage condition. They have old paper labels on bottoms but the words are obliterated from age. These are shown in the bookend book. Rarity is 4 out of 5. These are 8 long x 5 tall. These are listed for $325 at another site, so why pay more? If I get a good deal, you get a good deal! 7/10brcs
Circa: 1925

German Shepherd Vintage Bookends Vintage German Shepherd bookends. Brass or bronze, not sure; very heavy, but they are not iron. These are shown in the book in the iron made by Art Colony Industries, 1929, but Hubley also made them. Both companies likely made brass and bronze items in addition to iron. They are in good vintage condition and stand almost 6 tall x 5 wide; one has incised #2 on backside top. Old green felt on bottoms. Old copper like finish on the surface. 10/10egau#1069

Antique Hubley Cast Iron Dog Nutchopper Antique Hubley Cast Iron dog nutchopper. He is 5.5 tall x 10 long x 4.5 wide, and in good overall condition. The handle is marked with incised #24 'H' so I presume it is Hubley. Good antique condition; the iron is very smooth, not grainy as new ones are, and the mold lines are straight, not sloppy as a newer item would be. The bottom has a tad of rust and corner bottom edges show a lot of age as would be expected. A great old dog for your collection! See L. Franklin's book; it shows these dogs with and w/out the stands and there is one listed in the book with an 'H'.

churchgresleydogs1016

Collectible English Dog Bowls Two collectible English dog bowls. Both are same size; one is slightly darker shade of tan than the other. Both are Mason Cash, but one has an older mark on it. These are a bit over 5 wide x 2.25 tall. For smaller breed dogs. The incised mark on one reads: Mason Cash Church Gresley England DE and a number, (likely the design patent number), and Quality English something; which is likely the older mark because it has no Ltd. on it. The first bowls were made in the 1940's. The other one reads: Mason Cash & Co. Ltd. Church Gresley England, DE118E0, hard to make it out. The older one has more wear on the bottom rim also indicating age. It has one glaze bubble pop on the front area, enlarge the photos to see it. Great stoneware bowls for your precious pup! 10/16

Large Bulldog Figurine Large Bulldog figurine. This is an estate sale purchase; I do not know how old it is. It is very unique! It is very heavy and well made. It looks like copper and it has a tiny foil label on the bottom that says: India. Syria, India, and Mexico are all very well known for their beautiful copper pieces. This dog can be used as a doorstop or just as a furniture accessory. It is 9.5 tall x 6.5 wide x 12.75 long. I looked for one online and could not find anything remotely similar to it. Is it a French Bulldog? 9/19

Vintage Dog Planter Vase Heavy vintage dog planter vase. Very OLD spaniel/retriever dog planter vase, probably a Shawnee vase. It looks like it may have had cold paint at one time, but there is only one little speck of red paint left on his mouth. But he is really well-made, very thick, no chips or cracks, just some interior dirt. Look at the bottom of this one, very worn and very smooth. You can add your own cold paint!
