Large Saltglaze Antique Crock Large antique saltglazed crock. This large crock has tobacco spits, (the large brown glaze drops on exterior). It has an incised band on upper portion, and dark brown, (albany slip), on interior. It stands 9.5 tall x 9.25 wide. It has two old chips on top rim; some areas where glaze missed along bottom portion of rim; but no cracks or hairlines. Overall, it displays great; is sturdy and solid, and will hold your rolling pins, long handled utensils, or just to display with other antique stoneware items! According the experts on antique stoneware: nicks, gouges, small chips, and hairlines do not affect price unless they are very significant. These larger sized crocks were once used as meat crocks and for pickles and other items. Shipping to continental USA destinations only due to the large size & wt. The shipping will be calculated after order is place since it is not yet boxed in packaging materials.

Antique Stoneware Flower Pot Antique stoneware pot. Looks like a flower pot but could be some type of specialized food crock. It is either stoneware or possibly redware. The pictures are showing some reddened areas on it, but in real life, it is just deep dark rich brown, called an Albany slip glaze. No chips or cracks and stands 6 tall x almost 7 wide across top rim. It has one glaze pop on side of it. Bottom is very worn and almost black. If you look in the Zanesville or Monmouth books you will see some similar items on the catalog pages. Or, look in the books on redware, and it also shows similar items. I would estimate this dates to the late 19th C, early 20th. A very unique item to add to your collection!

Yellow Ware Crock Glazed yellow ware crock. c.late 19th, early 20th. Awesome piece of yellow ware with the Rockingham and/or Bennington Pottery type glaze; nice details. No chips or cracks, but does have all over faint crazing, and some glaze pops. It has 3 stilt/kiln marks on bottom, and a well-worn, smooth dry bottom rim. It is quite rich looking and detailed, and stands 5 tall x 6.25 wide. The color is actually a deeper, richer, darker brown with yellow showing, see pic #7. A rockingham mug with a similar pattern is shown on pg. 117 of the 1980 book titled: American Antiques by W. Ketchum. The book prices on this type of yellow ware are much higher.

Antique Hand Formed Crock Antique hand formed crock. Big saltglaze crock with tobacco spits on it and incised number #6. Good condition but for one chip on the top rim edge; see photos 7-8. The chip is not very noticeable because it is old and smooth. This crock is 10.25 tall x 9 wide across the top x 7 inches wide at the bottom. It also has a couple of small gouges in the bottom which do not show or affect stance. Not sure what its original function was but it is a very nice old piece of stoneware for your collection! 8/16

rrpcrock80609

Ransbottom Antique Pickle Crock Awesome antique Robinson Ransbottom stoneware crock. Being sold as a collectible item, not for food use since I did not manufacture it and I don't know if it has anything harmful in it. It has some age flaws, but still looks and displays good! The flaws are considered insignificant since they do not affect stance or display value; if they were major chips or cracks, it would not even be for sale. Flaws: it has some pits in glaze, (common); one hole in the glaze in the bottom rim, (doesn't go through to interior & doesn't show); crazing on interior bottom; a 1.5 inch crackle area on front near bottom pic #7; a fleabite on finial; and some small chippies on underside of lid. Great red painted wood handles. Made in the 1920's. Has #2 Crown logo. Measures 12 inches up to rim or 13 up to finial x 7.5 wide. A hard to find item! A smaller size one like this would have been for preserves; this may have been for pickles. USA destinations only. E-mail me your zip code prior to ordering for a more accurate ship quote if you want to. 9/8/09est$2621

It has a noticeable glaze depression in the body of jug but that is just how it was made. Next is a very cool crock with ears and vertical lines; 2.75 tall, no lid. Next is a 2 handles jug with cork stopper that is 3.75 tall. Last is a one handled jug that is 4.25 tall and has faint mark on bottom that I cannot make out. It has some glaze pops on it also. crock4013

Vintage Ransbottom Butter Cheese Crock Vintage Ransbottom hand painted blue banded stoneware crock with lid. Lid has a porcelain finial. This size crock would be used for butter or cheese. Great looking, artist signed crock. It is an RRP Roseville crock but is missing the mark. I know it is Ransbottom because the artist's name on it is the same as some of the other RRP items I have sold. It is signed, 'S. Class'. No chips or cracks, but has some blue color and discoloration on the interior and some age/wear. It stands 4 tall x 6 wide; w/lid on it is 6.5 tall. These make great planters or vases; or you put a big candle in it! 4/13

Miniature Stoneware Vessels Five vintage miniature stoneware vessels. Space savers! Hard to find! First are 2 tiny crock/beanpot shape jars that were made by Zanesville Stoneware Co., and are shown in the book. These were made for the Duchess Cheese Co. in NY, and are so marked on their bottoms. They are the dark brown and the tan crock; 2.25 tall; has one tiny fleabite on upper rim; one has fleabite on bottom edge. Next is a 3 inch Paden City mini jug; next is a cool crock w/shield mark on bottom, (UHL?). It is 2.5 tall x 3 wide, likely had a lid and handle at one time. Last is a small USA beanpot, (missing lid). As is, as found. These are great display items on a small child's hutch or wood shelf if you don't have room to collect the larger stoneware! 1/09variest'scs

Antique Stoneware Steam Table Jars Antique stoneware steam table jars. Both for one price. These have incised 'A' mark as well as a cobalt blue 'A' mark. No chips or cracks; one has a little gouge in the bottom which doesn't show when upright; see pic #8. Red Wing and Zanesville made steam table jars; see the books, but I do not know which company used an 'A' mark. Whoever it was must not have been in business very long because nothing shows up on my net research. Age estimate 1800's-early 1900's. The lids might be birds eye maple. Only the lids are showing age; I put some wood oil on them to clean and preserve the wood. The jars in the books are not shown with lids but these jars were purchased with these lids on them. The jars without lids on are 6 tall x 5.5 wide. You could use them as unique utensil holders or just display them with your other stoneware items. Neat old jars. Any info on which company the 'A' stands for, please contact me. 9/14
