Art Pottery Flower Frog Vintage art pottery lilly pad flower frog. Unique, hard-to-find item! Blue blended glazed lilly pad flower holder/frog. This item is shown in the Zanesville book, with same measurements, but another person relates it is also shown in the Fulper book. The clay on bottom is different from ZSC, so Fulper is more likely. Early companies copied each other frequently. This lilly pad has a grease mark on bottom, #50 and what appears to be a letter and then a P, but not sure on the letters because they are quite faded. It measures 3.75 wide one way, and 4 wide another way; and is 1.75 high. No chips or cracks, but does have crazing if you look at it upside down. Can you live without this little beauty?

It has a pinhead speck on top rim; a couple of black lines, (these are not hairlines); and a teensy fleabite near bottom rim, (old flaw). Incised mark on bottom: 5 A or S A). This vase has faint blended colors of blue and light blue. It is 4 inches tall. As stated, it displays very nicely. Not sure who made it; it is well made and hefty for its size. 9/13

Old Kentucky Hand Turned Redware Vase Super nice vintage hand turned redware pottery vase. Bottom has circular stamp: Hand-Turned Old Kentucky Pottery. Well worn smooth aged bottom rim indicating this is a very old vase. Age est: 1920's. It stands 9.75 tall. It has a piece of clay waste on the interior, and one pinpop on the exterior. No chips or cracks. It has a lighter blend of blue in it too but it was hard to get a good photo of this blended glaze because it is so subtle. Not sure if Cornelison Bybee made it or another Ky. company. Very niece piece of American art pottery. 10/11brcs;adjpr9/22

Small Vintage Stoneware Mixing Bowl Very small vintage stoneware mixing bowl. Child size; too small for anything an adult would use it for. Being sold as a collectible display item, not for food use since I did not manufacture it and I don't know if it has anything harmful in it. It has crazing, but no chips or cracks. One gouge on top rim which is just the way it was made. It is 3 tall x 5 wide. Rare size and color. Could be early UHL or other American company. Morton Pottery made a lot of toy and child size pottery. Great for a vintage bowl collection! 9/08flcs

pwel06061

Weller Art Pottery Thistle Jardiniere Vintage Weller Pottery thistle motif jardiniere. Stunning, good sized Weller 'Light Glaze Jardiniere'. This is a rather hard to find Weller. Not marked, but the identical 7 inch size is shown on pg. 141 of the 1999 book by Huxford. This jars measures 9 inches across at the top rim, about 8.5 high x about 32 inches in diameter. Soft grey/blue color with milk thistle flowers. I do not see any hairlines, but there are a couple of glaze misses, and it looks like some glaze crackles on the raised flowers/stems and a shrink line. There is one teeny surface flake on the burgandy and pink part of another flower, which is really hard to even find. The little flaws are not noticeable unless you have it right under your nose looking for them. This is an outstanding Weller jardinaire that would be perfect displayed atop a plant stand or pedestal. You can see one of the small glaze misses in one of the pics, the others are too small to photograph. The price reflects the tiny flaws, and it took me 5 times checking it before I even discovered the flaws, so you're not going to notice them either! These types of flaws are common due to the raised detailed design. Perfect for a faux or live fern plant! roflcs

Last is the blue one w/deep tan/yellowish clay on bottom; some pops and gauges in clay one tight 1/2 circular crack near top rim, hardly visible;. All are hand formed vases. Haeger Art Pottery Vase Antique Haeger art pottery vase. The identical shape vase is shown on a Haeger catalog page in D. Dilley's 1997 book, pg 32, c:1939. This is a heavy piece with 3 stilt marks on bottom. Smooth matte blue glaze. Haeger made some really nice early art pottery having started in business in 1871 and I am confident this is an early Haeger piece. Many early Haeger items just had foil labels which came off over time. It is 5 tall x 5.25 wide. No chips or cracks. 11/08estcs

Rare Zanesville Stoneware Garden Jar Massive vintage ZSC 'garden jar' as the book calls it. No shipping; it must be picked up in MI if you want it. Too big to ship! It is 53 inches around and 16.5 tall and very thick. It is shown in J. Rans book on pg. 251 catalog 12, mold 849, c:1951 & earlier. Not marked, and most early ZSC was not. It has an old, worn bottom rim. No chips or cracks. I would term this vase as 'rare' because I could not locate another one on-line anywhere, and it is only shown on a catalog page in the book. The colors are contemporary looking even though it's an oldie; grey/blue color with purple and seafoam colored grapes. This was purchased from the estate of a deceased antique dealer who had it in her home for ages! Outstanding vintage American pottery! They just don't make pottery like this any longer! 10/10br#3358;?

It would be really stunning with white or yellow daisies displayed in it! 5/16

rrpvase1022

Ransbottom Vintage Tall Vase Vintage Ransbottom tall vase. c: 1941. Cornflower blue. This vase is only shown on catalog page 118 in the RRP book and this vase is not marked. Because it is not marked, it may be a Weller Pottery vase since RRP bought out Weller molds when Weller Pottery closed. RRP was pretty good about marking their items with some type of maker's mark. Either company, it is an oldie; you can see the worn bottom rim. It is thick and heavy too. It stands 12 inches tall and has no chips or cracks on this beauty. Great to display live or faux sunflowers, gladiolas, etc. 10/22s

Rumrill Dutch Blue Vase Vintage Rumrill Dutch Blue vase. c:late 1930's-1938. Great looking semi-matte mottled blue vase. The glaze type is called 'stippled' and/or 'Dutch Blue' according to the book and this finish is hard to find, and commands higher prices. (see B.L. Dollen's 2001 book on Red Wing Pottery). No chips or cracks; stands 6 tall x 6 wide. Bottom has incised mark: Rumrill and a 3 digit number that I cannot make out. It has a whitish spot on interior of vase; looks like a factory flaw. Since it's on the interior, I do not consider it much of a flaw. A great item for your Rumrill/Red Wing collection!

Abingdon Vintage Pottery Tall Vase Tall vintage Abingdon Pottery vase. c.1940-1946. 10 tall x 6.5 wide. It has the Abingdon USA blue inkstamp on the bottom and incised number #118. It has one flaw, a small surface chip near bottom rim pic #4. Turn it the other way and you'll never notice it. Or, dab some matching paint over it. The pottery they sell at design centers is over $200 per item and has fake crazing and chips to make it look vintage. Go figure! The chip can be repaired at a pottery shop if you must have perfection.
