Antique stoneware beanpot. Marked with cobalt blue #4, (4 Quart I presume). It is a large one; nice inside. No chips or cracks; has one firing line near front bottom. This is a clay separation line which happens when clay is fired in a kiln; the clay separates. It looks like a crack, but it's not, see closeup pic #4. This old pot is 8 inches tall x 9.5 wide from handle end to other handle end. No maker's mark; could be McCoy, Monmouth, etc. All the American pottery companies made similar items. 9/12scsr |
