Stunning antique Guerin Limoges porcelain jardinaire. c:1900-1932. Features large poppies w/black background. A similar jard, albeit with white background is shown on pg. 149 of M. Gaston's book. This jard is marked, but the mark is hard to see in the picture; the book shows the mark on pg. 134, mark 3, if you need to see it more clearly. No chips or cracks and has a 23 inch diameter; and is 5.5 across top rim; and 5.25 tall. It has one 1 inch scratch on one side, (against the black background), which is really only visible if you have this in front of your nose in clear lighting. A unique quality piece! Fabulous in an oriental or traditional/classic style room. |
